Centre gives environmental clearance to UltraTech Cement’s proposed limestone mine in Gujarat

The Centre has given environmental clearance to UltraTech Cement’s proposed limestone mine in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district. The mine, to be developed at a total cost of ₹30 crore, will have a capacity of 0.53 mtpa. Limestone from the proposed mine will be used for UltraTech’s cement plants in Amreli and the proposed cement plant in Bhavnagar. The project, spread over 193 ha, has total extractable reserves of 19.22 mt. Mining will be carried out by opencast mechanised method without drilling or blasting. Shares of UltraTech Cement were down 1.8 per cent at ₹3,322.75 on the NSE.
