Singareni transports record quantity of coal on Feb. 9

The Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has transported the highest quantity of coal ever (over 1.47 lakh tonnes) from its coal handling plants on February 9 to its customers. Transportation of 1,47,030 tonnes of coal with the help of 39 rakes, each having 58 wagons, on February 9 eclipsed its previous record in coal transportation with 37 rakes on November 21, 2015 and 36 rakes on December 31, 2016.

Coal handling plants

Officials of the SCCL said on Friday that the record transportation of coal was done from its coal handling plants by loading 7 rakes each at Manuguru and Ramagundam, 6 rakes each from Kothagudem and Srirampur, 4 rakes from R.G.-1 and 3 rakes each from Yellendu, Bellampally and Mandamarri.

The management thanked the South Central Railway (SCR) for providing rakes at the 11 coal handling plants on time to achieve its target in coal transportation since 90% of the coal produced (mined) by the company was being transported through railway wagons.

Major customers

Stating that a majority of Singareni’s customers getting their coal supplies through railway rakes were thermal power projects, the officials said their major customers included Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (KTPS) at Palvancha, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) at Ramagundam and thermal power projects at Parli (Maharashtra), Raichur (Karnataka), Muddanur (Andhra Pradesh) and some cement and steel units.
