Brazil’s February long steel exports grow 34% on year

Brazil exported 70,421 mt of carbon steel long products in February, up 34.3% from the 52,430 mt exported in the year-ago month, Trade Ministry data showed. The overall sales value increased 35.2% to $35.35 million FOB, from $26.14 million FOB a year earlier.
The increase was led by wire rod shipments, up 88.7% in February to 33,249 mt from 17,613 mt in the year-ago month, followed by a 96.84% increase in sales value to $15.78 million FOB from $8.01 million FOB in February 2016.
The average price grew to $474.74/mt from $455.29/mt.
Rebar exports increased 6.7% to 37,171 mt in February, up from 34,817 mt in the year-ago month. The value of rebar sales increased 7.9% on year to $19.56 million FOB from $18.12 million mt FOB, while the average price grew to $526.34/mt from $520.66/mt.
