Ferro Silicon Prices Unchanged Amid Steady Demand

27 Mar 2017

Demand for Ferro Silicon has been observed to be stable, and the offer prices are kept unchanged as of now.
“Low or exhausted stock of the buyers are pushing the demand upwards,” mentioned a Producer source. Moreover, most of the material is booked out in advance, he said.
The current price of the Bhutanese ferro silicon grade 70-75% is stable at INR 67,500/MT (Ex-Bhutan) and INR 65,500/MT (Ex-Guwahati).
SteelMint assessed that albeit an optimistic sentiment in the market, the producers are unable to supply in large quantities. Supply tightness has increased in the ferro silicon market, but raising the prices further may invite competition from Malaysia as buyers could prefer importing, with the INR appreciation against the USD is capping any upward correction in prices.
Currently, export offers for Bhutanese Ferro Silicon has remained unchanged at USD 1,045/MT (FOB Kolkata)
As per current scenario, stability of prices could be expected for the next two weeks.
