Steel Authority of IndiaBSE -0.17 %‘s Bhilai Steel Plant crossed a significant milestone on Tuesday with the lighting up of the stoves of the plant’s new furnace which is slated to take its post modernisation hot metal capacity to 7.5 million tonne

One of the biggest blast furnaces in the country, Bhilai Steel Plant’s new furnace (BF No. 8) can produce more than 8,000 tonnes of hot metal per day. It will have an annual hot metal production capacity of 2.8 million tonne.
The process of heating of stoves was initiated by Bhilai Steel CEO M Ravi, in presence of the plant’s senior management which included P K Sinha, ED (Mines), Hriday Mohan, ED (MM), T B Singh, ED (Works), M K Barman, ED (P&A), A K Mathur, ED (Projects) SAILBSE -0.17 % Corporate Office, General Managers and senior officers of the Plant and Projects Dept, representatives of equipment & technology suppliers, Paul Worth, Italy and consortium partner, L & T and Paulwurth, India.
