Operation has resumed in the Kalinga Nagar plant of Visa Steel here. The private steel plant had to shut down its 0.5 MT per annual special steel plant due to unavailability of raw materials on Monday.

Workers joined the plant on Wednesday and worked was resumed in different sections. Transportation of raw materials like iron ore and chromite has also been restored following the tripartite talks between VISA authorities, Sukinda legislator, and the district administration, said Chiranjib Agarwal, an official of the steel plant.

Workers distributed sweets among themselves in the morning after the plant started functioning.

On Wednesday last, local BJD workers had allegedly prevented transportation of raw materials to all units of the steel plant. With the steel plant running out of raw materials and no new transportation allowed, VISA Steel was forced to shut shop till further orders and issued a closure notice to the District Labour Officer on Sunday.
