RSP’s New Plate Mill gets latest ISO 14001: 2015 Certification

27 November 2017

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) today said its New Plate Mill has received the latest ISO 14001: 2015 Environment Management System Certification for the first time along with other departments.

Other departments, which were earlier certified to ISO 14001: 2004, have subsequently been re-certified to the new standard, RSP said in a statement.

These departments are Sinter Plant-II, Special Plate Plant, Hot Strip Mill, Plate Mill, Pipe Plants, Silicon Steel and Environment Engineering Department, it said.

ED (Works) of RSP, Subhendra Das unveiled the certificate in presence of HODs of respective EMS certified departments in a meeting held recently.

It is noteworthy that M/S Bureau Veritas agencies awarded the certificate to RSP after a pre-audit and an exhaustive week long certification audit of all the areas under the scope of certification, it said.

Earlier this year, the New Plate Mill had got ISO 9001:2008 QMS Certification for Quality Management. With both Quality and Environment Management under its belt, the New Plate Mill is all set to further strengthen its customer base, the release said.

Another point worth highlighting here is that RSP has embraced the changes in the Management systems in a planned way. In June this year, it was the first unit in SAIL to get SA 8000: 2014 certification and it has also been recommended for continuation of certificate after the first surveillance audit.
