US’ weekly coal output inches up marginally

As per the recent data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), US’ weekly coal output came at an estimated 15.5 million short tons (mmst) of coal for the week ending December 23, 2017.

Recent report from EIA showed that the production estimates are 2.4% higher than last week’s estimate and 3.2% higher than the production estimate in the comparable week in 2016.

Regional break-up for the weekly output depicted that the east of the Mississippi River produced an estimated 5.8 mmst (same as last week) and west of the Mississippi River produced an estimated 9.7 mmst (up by 3.19% week on week).

US’ year-to-date (as of December 23, 2017) coal production totalled an estimated 760.4 mmst, 6.4% higher than the comparable year-to-date coal production in 2016.
