Iran’s iron ore output increases

Iran’s major state-run iron ore companies, affiliated to Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), produced about 31.18 million tons of iron ore concentrate during the first 10 months of the current fiscal year (March 20-Jan. 21).
The figure indicates a 16 percent increase compared to the preceding year, IMIDRO said on Feb. 17.
Gol Gohar Iron Ore Co. ranked first producing 11.54 million tons, followed by Chadormalou with 7.06 million tons of output.
Markazi (4.12 million tons), Gohar Zamin (3.43 million tons), Middle East Mine Industries Development Holding Company (3.33 million tons), and Sangan (1.71 million tons) were among the other leading iron ore concentrate producers.
The report didn’t include the volume of iron ore produced by private sector companies, which produce a total of 14 million tons of iron ore annually.
Over 15.84 million tons of sponge iron produced by 10 state-run companies, 14 percent more compared to the first 10 months of the preceding year.
The companies’ monthly iron sponge output in last fiscal month (Dec. 21-Jan. 21) amounted to 1.52 million tons, 11 percent more year-on-year.
Also 26.45 million tons of Iron ore pellets were produced in the country in the 10-month period, 25 percent more year-on-year.
Gol Gohar Iron Ore Co. was the biggest iron ore granule producer in the period with 9.17 million output, followed by Mobarakeh Steel Co. (6.33 million tons), Khuzestan Steel Co. (5.37 million tons), Chadormalou (2.89 million tons), Middle East Mine Industries Development Holding Company (2.68 million tons).
The iron ore granule output of the aforementioned firms stood at 2.82 million tons in last calendar month, which is 21 percent more compared to the 1-month period of the preceding year.
Iran’s total iron ore reserve stands at 5.1 billion tons, of which 2.8 billion tons are proven.
