China’s February coking coal import fell 42% on month to 2.9 mil mt

China imported 2.9 million mt of coking coal in February, reflecting a 42.44% decline compared with January and a 34.35% decline year on year, customs data released Tuesday showed.

The country imported 1.47 million mt of coking coal from Australia in February, up 48.32% month on month and up 23.25% year on year, while imports from Mongolia fell 33.95% month on month and 32.36% year on year to 971,564 mt.

Year to date, China has imported a total of 7.97 million mt of coking coal, down 25.3% year on year.
