Russian seaports throughput grew by 3.7 percent YoY

In January-April 2018, seaports of Russia handled 260.1 million tonnes of cargo (up 3.7%, YoY), says press centre of the Association of Commercial Sea Ports. Trans-shipment of dry cargo totalled 122.5 million tonnes (+10.0%) including 49.0 million tonnes of coal (+3.4%), 17.2 million tonnes of containerized cargo (+12.9%), 18.0 million tonnes of grain (up 1.6 times), 10.8 million tonnes of ferrous metal (+11.1%), 6.0 million tonnes of mineral fertilizers (+8.4%), 2.0 million tonnes of ore (+5.1%) and 1.7 million tonnes of timber (+2.6%).
Trans-shipment of liquid bulk cargo declined to 137.6 million tonnes (-1.3%) including 80.4 million tonnes of crude oil (-5.8%), 48.3 million tonnes of oil products (+1.7%) and 7.1 million tonnes of liquefied gas (+40.5%).
In the reporting period, exports totalled 202.0 million tonnes (+2.5%), imports – 11.9 million tonnes (+10.1%), transit – 21.2 million tonnes (+13.8%), short-sea traffic – 24.9 million tonnes (+2.9%).
Operators of seaports in the Arctic Basin handled 25.6 million tonnes (+12.5%) including 9.1 million tonnes of dry cargo (+5.2%) and 16.5 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+16.9%). The port of Murmansk handled 17.3 million tonnes (+5.8%), Sabetta – 4.1 million tonnes (up 2.0 times), Varndei – 2.3 million tonnes (-21.0%), Arkhangelsk – 0.9 million tonnes (+29.5%)
Operators of seaports in the Baltic Basin handled 81.7 million tonnes (-1.3%) including– 35.0 million tonnes of dry cargo (+10.4%) and 46.7 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-8.6%). The port of Ust-Luga handled 33.0 million tonnes (-0.2%), Big Port St. Petersburg – 19.2 million tonnes (+15.4%), Primorsk – 18.1 million tonnes (-18.5%).
Operators of seaports in the Azov-Black Sea Basin handled 88.2 million tonnes (+8.9%) including 39.2 million tonnes of dry cargo (+19.8%) and 49.0 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+1.5%). The port of Novorossiysk handled 52.3 million tonnes (+8.9%), Tuapse – 8.9 million tonnes (+0.4%), Kavkaz – 7.2 million tonnes (+5.5%), Rostov-on-Don – 5.2 million tonnes (+34.6%).
Operators of seaports in the Caspian Basin handled 1.7 million tonnes (+47.4%) including 1.0 million tonnes of dry cargo (+16.1%) and 0.7 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (up 2.3 times).
Operators of seaports in the Far East Basin handled 62.8 million tonnes (-0.4%) including – 38.2 million tonnes of dry cargo (+1.9%) and 24.6 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (-3.9%). Port Vostochny handled 22.9 million tonnes (-1.8%), Vanino – 9.7 million tonnes (-1.2%), Nakhodka – 8.0 million tonnes (-2.9%), Vladivostok – 6.5 million tonnes (+22.3%), Prigorodnoye – 6.2 million tonnes (+0.9%).
Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
