China’s November coking coal imports plunge to 7 month low

31-Dec-2018

China imported about 4.9 million tonnes of coking coal in November, or the seven-month low, according to the statistics of China’s General Administration of Customs on December 22, which was mainly because of Beijing’s conscious controlling of the pace in China’s coal imports since mid-November, according to market sources.

For November, China’s coking coal importing volume was 19.6% down on month or 8.8% lower on year, the Customs statistics showed, which resulted in a 2.3% year-on-year decline in the country’s coking coal imports over January-November to 61.8 million tonnes. Over January-October, the volume of coking coal imports was 1.6% lower on year.
