Australia, Brazil iron ore shipments dip 9.3%

Iron ore shipments dispatched to all destinations from Australia and Brazil continued to drop over the December 31-January 6 week, declining by a large 2.46 million tonnes or 9.3% on week to 23.98 million tonnes, according to Mysteel’s latest survey released on January 8. Shipments from both countries decreased last week.

As of January 6, Australia had shipped 16.58 million tonnes of iron ore, lower by another 528,000 tonnes or 3.1% from the week earlier, the data shows. Within this total, cargoes sailing to China also decreased by 712,000 tonnes or 4.9% on week to 13.95 million tonnes.
