Dr. T.R.K. Rao belongs to the 1986 batch of Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) and held various key positions in the Ministry of Railways and State Government. Diksha Goel is a specialist on dry bulk shipping at Drewry and is based at its India office.
As part of the dry bulk team, she has been providing key inputs to various technical reports
pertaining to the sector- Dry bulk forecaster and Dry bulk shipping insight. Her role in the
organisation involves analysing and forecasting dry bulk trade, shipping supply and demand
and charter rates.
Diksha holds a first-class master’s degree in Economics from the prestigious Jawaharlal
Nehru University after completing her Bachelors in Economics from Zakir Hussain College,
Delhi University with distinction.

ARUN Maheshwari, 48 years, is currently the Executive-Vice President (Commercial) and
in-charge of procurement of all major Steel and Power generating raw materials for JSW
Group.
His entrepreneurship skills dynamic approach creative lateral thinking catapulted him to
additionally look after the Corporate Strategy and International Expansion of steel
business.
With over 25 years of experience in steel industry, he is an ideator, strategizer,
thought leader, straddling leadership roles in specialist, technical and professional areas,
a great team builder and widely regarded by business associates, a man of all seasons.
An MBA in marketing, he has been in - charge of International Marketing of steel products
for the company prior to his current assignments.
NMDC Limited
Alok Kumar Mehta, a Graduate in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Raipur, with more than 33
years of experience in Copper Industry, Iron ore mining and Iron & Steel Industry in India
and abroad. He started his career as Graduate Engineer Trainee with Hindustan Copper Limited
in July 1983 and served till 1993. In 1993 he joined Saurastra Chemical, Porbander and
worked till 1997.
In the year 1997 he joined Aditya Birla group at Birla Copper Dahej and in 2003 he was given
the responsibility of Australian operations of Aditya Birla Group. He has distinction of
handling construction of two plants at Australia one with an investment of 15 Million A$ at
Mount Garden, Queens Land and other with an investment of 210 Million A$ at NIFTY Western
Australia.
In the year 2006 he joined NMDC Limited (a Navratna PSU) and given the responsibilities of
bringing up 3.0 MTPA Steel Plant at Nagarnar. He successfully conceived the Integrated Steel
Plant at Nagarnar with the cooperation of all stake holders.
At present he is responsible for the execution of all the Engineering, Contracts and
Projects activities of NMDC Limited from HO. He is also Director of three of the joint
venture companies of NMDC Ltd. He is also executing 460 KM long Slurry Pipeline with a
capacity of 15 MTPA.
Ministry of Environment & Forests
Dr.R.K.Suri is a former Director of the Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of
India, New Delhi. He has more than forty years of experience in research and teaching in
Forestry, Environment Impact Assessment & Monitoring, Pollution Control, Hazards and Risk
Assessment Safety and Environmental Health, Education and Awareness. His contribution in
teaching and research has been well recognized nationally and internationally and his
research has resulted in over 125 technical papers and guided the research work of seven
students leading to the award of Ph.D. degree.
Dr.Suri .has received numerous awards and recognitions, including Dr. A. Purushottam Silver
Medal for outstanding work in Forest Sciences in 1982 and Gold Medal from Essential Oils
Association of India in1992 for best paper published in Indian Perfumer in 1991. He is also
a recipient of the Greentech Environment Champion Award 2014.
Dr.Suri has Edited/Authored 19 noteworthy books related to forestry and environment and his
book entitled “Shore Machaye Shore” in Hindi was awarded cash prize of Rs.15, 000/- by the
Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India, New Delhi in 1998.
Dr.Suri has had an ongoing interest in environmental education and awareness and has been
instrumental in developing environmental quizzes and a fun game Green Tambola (Housie) which
is a tool for sensitizing public and dissemination of information on environmental matters
to the society.
He is a member of several noteworthy Scientific Societies/Associations like National Academy
of Sciences, Allahabad; Indian Chemical Society, Calcutta; Oil Technologists Association of
India, Kanpur; Essential Oils Association of India, Kanpur; Society of Indian Forester,
Dehradun; Society for Forest & Environmental Management, New Delhi; and Society of
Biological Chemists, Bangalore. and recently inducted as a Senior Member of Institute of
Research Engineers and Doctors(IRED)Hong Kong.
Coal Science Inc.

Dr Hardarshan Valia retired as a scientist at Inland Steel Research Laboratories (now Arcelor Mittal), and is currently the President of Coal Science, Inc. He has published more than 85 scientific articles and various book chapters including in Making, Shaping, and Treating of Steel, and co-authored a book entitled Indiana Coals and the Steel Industry, and is a contributor to American Iron and Steel Institute’s web site. He has been honored with the Joseph Becker Award (Iron & Steel Society), the Joseph Kapitan Award (Association for Iron & Steel Technology), and the American Iron & Steel Institute Medal. He received his Ph.D. in Geology from Boston University.
Coal Preparation Society of India
Mr. R K Sachdev is a qualified Mining Engineer from the Indian School of Mines (IIT), Dhanbad, a Certified First Class Colliery Manager, and a Chartered Engineer. He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers (India) and Member, Mining, Geological & Metallurgical Institute, India. Starting his professional career with the erstwhile National Coal Development Corporation as an Apprentice Mining Engineer, during his outstanding professional carrier, Mr. Sachdev held many senior positions in the Indian coal industry as well in the Government of India. He had played a key role in establishment of Central Mine Planning & Design Institute at Ranchi and its Regional Institutes. His last official position was Adviser in the Ministry of Coal where he was responsible for project appraisal, perspective planning, new technologies, international collaboration and allied coal policy initiatives. During his tenure of nearly 15 years with the Ministry of Coal, he has been associated with a large number of government policy making committees. He has also served as a Director on the Board of BCCL and CMPDIL. He has also been a Member of Research Council of CFRI (now CIMFR) and the Executive Board of the Indian School of Mines. After his retirement from the Government of India, he served the US Department of Energy-USAID, India as an International Project Adviser on the India-US Coal Prep Programme. He also worked with the World Bank on Coal Sector Rehabilitation Project. He has been an Advisor to the Expenditure Reforms Commission constituted by the Government of India to review the organizational structures of various government ministries and departments. He has also been associated with the GTZ GmbH, International Energy Agency (IEA), OECD, IEA Clean Coal Centre, Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), and Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, Planning Commission and Ministry of Coal as a Member on various Technical Committees. He also carried out a detailed study on Clean Coal Technologies for the Department of Science & Technology He is the Founder President of Coal Preparation Society of India, a non-government and non-profit professional body of coal, power, iron & steel, cement and allied industries dedicated to a clean and environmentally acceptable coal-energy chain in India. He is the Chairman of the International Organizing Committee (IOC) of the 19th International Coal Preparation Congress (ICPC) which will be held in 2019 in New Delhi under the aegis of CPSI.
HEAD OF COAL PROCUREMENT
Prashant Goyal, has been leading the coal procurment for the Company. He works with well
established coal suppliers and traders both in India and globally. Prashant has represented
OPG in various coal conferences in India and overseas and has significant experience in this
area. OPG has a well established procurement policy with a track record of no coal shortages
to date.
In addition, Prashant has assisted in getting the necessary clearances for the Gujarat 300
MW thermal power project including the multi circuit transmission line and continues to
manage liasion with the local government.
Prashant holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and has been with the Company since 2010.
Essar Steel India Limited
B.E, Mechanical with specialization in Production engineering from College of Engineering, Osmania University, Hyderabad. Has More than 34 years of experience to the steel industry inside and outside India. Joined M/S ESSAR steel India Limited in the year 2005 at Hazira steel complex as Head of maintenance and worked in HBI,Cold rolling Mills, Hot strip Mill and service centre at Hazira .Presently Responsible for operations of Beneficiation plant and slurry pipe line of VIZAG complex, ESIL. Prior to Joining of ESSAR, worked in ECC (L&T construction divison), Rourkela steel plant of SAIL and GSHL of Ispat.
Chief Regulatory Affairs, Tata Steel
A Mining Engineer by training, working for more than 25 years in different roles of managing
mining operations and, worked closely with stakeholders like local communities, statutory
and regulatory bodies, professional institutes, consultants, opinion leaders and policy
makers.
Have been involved in multiple due diligence exercises of mineral prospects in India,
Australia, Africa, and UK from technical, regulatory and commercial perspective.
In the current role represents Tata Steel in various national and international policy
discussion related to steel, Mining, Environment to fiscal & Trade matters. Have represented
CII at Paris & Marrakech at COP21 & COP22.
