Iran’s crude steel output up by 17% in Q1

According to the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), more than 21.8 million tons of crude steel was produced in the country last year (ended March 20, 2018).

IMIDRO put Iran’s rank in steel production at 13 among 65 leading steel manufacturers in the world.

Total steel production volume in the first three months of the current year (Mar. 21-Jun. 21) hit 2,864,091 tons.

Of total 2,864,091 tons, 1,768,194 tons of which was produced by Esfahan’s Mobarakeh Steel Company (EMSCO) and SABA Steel Complex, showing a considerable 17 percent growth as compared to the same period of last year.

Moreover, 568,284 tons of steel was produced by Esfahan Steel Company, showing a significant eight percent growth as compared to a year earlier.

World Steel Association (WSA) in its latest report put Iran’s rank at 11 in terms of steel production among 66 countries in the world.
