Vietnam’s cement market expands 29% in June

Vietnamese cement producers have sold 8.71Mt in June, up 30 per cent YoY, said the Vietnam Building Material Association.

Domestic demand reached 6.91Mt, representing a 29 per cent increase when compared with June 2017, including 2.18Mt sold by Vietnam Cement Industry Corp (Vicem). Exports surged by 35 per cent YoY in June to 1.8Mt.

In the 1H18 Vietnam’s total cement sales are estimated to have advanced by 25 per cent YoY to 51.42Mt, or 61 per cent of the 2018 target. Vicem sales reached 11.93Mt. Exports in the 1H18 soared 50 per cent YoY to 15.42Mt, to 85.6 per cent of their whole-year target.

Vietnam currently hosts Cemtech Asia 2018, the leading cement industry conference and exhibition, in the Meliá Hotel in Hanoi. The three-day meeting, which wraps up today, explored markets and technical advances of the Asian cement industry.
